Born on November 1, 1973 in Mangalore, India Aishwarya Rai Bachchan began her modelling career in 1994 when she placed second in Miss India contest and later that year won the title of Miss World. In 1997 Rai began her acting career in the film Iruvar he followed this with a number of films including Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, Jeans, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Taal, Mohabbatein, Josh, Kandukondain Kandukondain, Devdas and Chokher Bali. In 2004 Rai began acting in foreign films the first of which was Bride and Prejudice which she followed with The Mistress of Spices. In 2005 Rai became the spokeswoman for L'Or al, she has since released the movies Dhoom 2 and her first American film The Last Legion.
